Air conditioning installed in Lounge room

If you’ve decided to invest in an Element Air or Mitsubishi Electric Heat Pump, you’ve made a smart choice for comfortable and efficient heating and cooling.

But what happens on installation day? Here’s a comprehensive overview of the installation process to help you prepare.

The first step of the installation is critical in ensuring your Heat Pump performs at its best. The installer will take into account specific requirements such as airflow, window placement, ventilation, and how your family uses the space that’s being conditioned. The indoor unit should be placed in an area where it won’t be affected by drafts and the outdoor unit should be positioned away from elements, dust, and debris.

For maximum efficiency, the outdoor unit should be located within approximately 15 meters of the indoor air outlet and should have ample space on either side for airflow and maintenance access. It should also be installed on a solid base, attached to a wall, or on a concrete slab.

The time it takes to install a Heat Pump can vary from a few hours to a full day, depending on the complexity of the installation. For example, a simple back-to-back installation can be completed in as little as 3 to 4 hours, while ducted systems may take a few days.

Here’s an overview of the standard installation process for a Split System Heat Pump:

Step 1: Mounting the Indoor Unit

The installer will secure the mounting bracket to the interior wall and place the indoor unit.

Step 2: Drilling a Hole

The installer will drill a hole in the wall to connect the indoor unit to the outdoor condenser, running electrical wiring, drainage lines, and tubing through the hole.

Step 3: Wiring

The installer will connect the piping and wiring to the indoor unit, securing them in place with electrical tape and a protective tube.

Step 4: Installing the Indoor Unit

The indoor unit will be locked into its position and connected to the pipes and wiring from step 3.

Step 5: Installing the Outdoor Unit

The outdoor unit, located outside, will be secured to the ground or to a secure mounting bracket and connected to the indoor unit.

Once all steps are completed, the installer will run a series of tests to ensure the piping, refrigerant charge, and airflow are correct. They will then teach you how to use the remote control and show you how to download the Wi-Fi app, if your Heat Pump has this feature.

By understanding what to expect on installation day, you can prepare and make the most of your Element Air or Mitsubishi Electric Heat Pump investment.

Take the plunge, transform your home and breathe easier!
