As the owner of Element Air Taupo, I’ve received numerous complaints from customers about their heat pumps spitting, spraying, or dripping water into their rooms. This can be an inconvenience, but it’s not normal behavior for a heat pump or air conditioner. In this article, I’ll provide some simple solutions to this problem and give you peace of mind.

First things first: Clean the Filters. Dirty air filters can cause decreased air pressure and result in condensation freezing inside your heat pump. Over time, this ice will melt and be sprayed into the room. To avoid this, replace your air filters every few months to ensure proper airflow and efficient operation of your heat pump.

Next, close your doors and windows. Heat pumps are designed to remove moisture from the air, keeping your home dry. On humid days, leaving windows and doors open can lead to condensation forming on the louvers of your heat pump, which can then be blown out as spit or spray. So, keep your windows and doors closed to prevent this from happening.

If these solutions don’t solve the problem, there may be a more serious issue at play. Clogged drain lines or a refrigerant leak can cause similar problems. In these cases, it’s best to contact a heat pump specialist for a chemical clean or to assess the issue.

In conclusion, if your heat pump is spitting water, try these simple solutions first. And if they don’t work, don’t hesitate to contact Element Air Taupo for expert advice and service.
