Why a multi-room system?

A Multi Room Heat Pump System provides superior efficiency and energy as it not only increases curb appeal by reducing the number of outdoor units but also gives you the control to select an indoor model suited for each room in your home. This gives you the ability to choose different models per room function and specification while providing unrivaled comfort. Also with Mitsubishi Electric heat pump technology, efficiency, and energy savings are guaranteed.

Future proof your home, add units as your family grows

A Multi-Room System means that you don’t have to pick all the indoor units for your home at the same time. You can connect them up gradually, as you need them. This implies a four-room plan may be set up with only two inside units, to begin with, allowing you to add as many additional rooms as you like in the future – all linked to one single outdoor unit. Forward planning allows you to avoid having four huge outside units cluttering your yard, which is what would happen if you used a conventional single-room heat pump system.

Personalise your space

With a Omnicore Multi Room Heat Pump System, you may personalize the heat pump for each room to whatever you wish by connecting multiple indoor units. There is a style and capacity to match any space, whether it’s a tiny capacity silent low wall in the bedroom, a compact floor console in the office, or a discreet ducted model in the sitting area. And because they don’t rely on fossil fuels, they’re a more sustainable option for personalising your comfort.

Temperature control for each room

Different from a standard heat pump system, in an Omnicore Multi-Room System, you may individually control each heat pump in your house, from turning off the living room heat pump as you depart for dinner to increasing the temperature in the kids’ bedrooms before bedtime. You may adjust the temperature to match your personal preferences and ensure that only one heat pump is running at a time, saving money on energy bills.

Quiet operation for peaceful comfort

Mitsubishi Electric Omnicore Multi Room Heat Pump Systems are equipped with a specialized Quiet Mode, which lowers outdoor sound levels to as low as 45dBA while in use – for the ultimate in quiet home comfort. They are a high-capacity whisper quiet system with a look to match any lounge.

Which Type and Size Heat Pump is Right for Me?
Choosing the right sized heat pump is important to ensure optimum comfort levels; particularly when outdoor temperatures drop. Location, room size, and insulation levels in a room are all factors that determine which heat pump size should be installed.Insulation and building orientation are key factors which can influence the degree of heat loss in a home. An older style home with poor insulation will lose indoor heat at a faster rate than a modern well-insulated home that faces north. The quicker a home loses heat, the bigger the heat pump system will need to be to overcome this heat loss.

Element Air

Outdoor ambient conditions in winter also play a big role in unit size selection. When temperatures drop, the output capacity of the heat pump also drops. Areas of New Zealand that experience sub-zero temperatures in winter will require either a larger capacity heat pump or an upgrade to a Mitsubishi Electric HyperCore® Heat Pump, in comparison to a same sized room in a warmer region. It is therefore very important that units are not undersized in low ambient conditions.

Take the guess work out – use our sizing tool to select the best heat pump for you, based on your region’s average lowest winter temperature. From here, you can book your free in-home consultation using our simple online form.

“Wow this company is awesome, I’d highly recommend them. We live in Auckland and have a holiday home in Turangi. James was so helpful and organised and installed a heat pump for us in under a week. I asked if it could be done (feeling very cheeky) prior to family going down at the weekend and he did it. So amazing to find people like this. He even went down to our house from Taupo on the Sunday to have a look at what was needed. We recently renovated our home in Auckland which has been nothing short of an absolute nightmare with trades people. James is an absolute gentleman. Thank you so much, we really appreciate how quickly you did this for us and how easy its been to communicate with you.”

Dave Jones

“I recently had James install a heat pump in my small rental property. He has a wealth of knowledge about heat pumps, giving me a range of options and prices to choose from and also giving a recommendation as to what would work best in my property. James completed the job to a high standard and followed up the job with photos which I think is great, especially if you own a property and live out of town so can’t see the job in its completion straight away. I would highly recommend his work. Thanks again James!”

Frequently asked questions

If I need to heat multiple rooms in my home, how many units will I need?

The Mitsubishi Electric that we stock here at Element Air offers a multi-room system sometimes called a multi-split system. You will often require more than one heat pump to effectively heat your whole house. The multi-room solution gives you the freedom to choose the most suitable heat pump for each room, i.e. super quiet heat pumps for bedrooms and larger capacity units for living areas. The best thing about a multi-room is that up to eight indoor units can be connected to a single outdoor unit. So, you are not disturbing the outdoor aesthetics of your home!

Correctly selected and installed multi-room systems can save you the power and reduce extraneous noise.

Does a multi split heat pump stop condensation?

While a heat pump’s primary purpose is to heat or cool your room, our heat pumps do offer limited dehumidification of your home when you switch your setting to the ‘dry’ mode.

Notes:

  • When the heat pump is operating in Dry Mode, the unit is not heating so it is recommended to only use the Dry mode for shorter periods of time and when heating is not required.
  • Good airflow helps prevent moisture build-up, specialist moisture control products such as the Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay Home Ventilation System or a Mitsubishi Electric Oasis dehumidifier can specifically address excess moisture concerns or issues.

Is it easy to upgrade my current heat pump system to a multi split system?

Until recently, replacing heat pump components necessitated the replacement of all of the piping. However, Mitsubishi Electric has developed a remarkable refrigerant oil that removes residual mineral oil from the old type of refrigerant in existing heat pump lines, allowing the pipe to be reused. When it comes to upgrading, this pipe reuse approach will save you money and time. It also cuts down on waste and copper usage. Now than ever before, upgrading your old heat pump unit to a more energy-efficient one makes sense.

How often should I clean my multi split heat pump system?

Indoor unit, with the change of season (vacuum works best), outdoor unit, every 6 months (mostly plant and debris clearing)

Can I just buy a second hand heat pump multi split system instead of a new one?

Second-hand heat pumps have roughly an 80% failure rate. Most people who buy a second-hand heat pump end up needing to buy a replacement in less than six months.

Here is why:

– Installing and uninstalling heat pumps is complicated. If the heat pump is uninstalled and transported incorrectly, gas can escape and parts can get damaged, meaning the heat pump won’t work properly

– Second-hand heat pumps aren’t covered by manufacturer’s warranties and guarantees, meaning there is no way of knowing how well it’ll will work or how long it might work for.

Why choose a multi split heat pump system?

A Multi Room Heat Pump System is perfect for homes with multiple indoor units. It allows you to heat and cool each room independently, making it the perfect solution for large or multi-level homes.

Does Element Air install the quiet heat pumps?

Element Air offers whisper quiet high wall heat pumps, perfect for homes or office spaces with small capacities. Our range of models allow you to choose the perfect heat pump for your lounge, enabling you to reduce noise levels while still keeping your space warm and inviting. With a variety of styles to choose from, you can be sure our systems are efficient, reliable and whisper-quiet. Enjoy the warmth and comfort of Element Air’s small capacity whisper quiet high wall model without sacrificing any style.

What size heat pump do I need?

At Element Air, we understand that choosing the right size heat pump for your home can be a confusing task. To determine the best size for your needs, it’s important to consider factors such as the size of your room, the insulation levels, and the climate in your area. A room that is too small for a heat pump will struggle to heat the space, while an oversized unit will consume too much energy and be costly to run. That’s why our HVAC professionals take the time to assess your home and recommend the appropriate heat pump size. Our team will also consider your lifestyle, budget, and heating requirements to determine the best unit for your home. So don’t hesitate, contact Element Air today and let us help you find the perfect heat pump for your home.

what are the heat pump installation regulations in New Zealand?

As a HVAC company in New Zealand, Element Air is well-versed in the regulations for heat pump installations. In New Zealand, heat pump installations must comply with the Building Code, as well as the Electrical Safety Regulations. These regulations ensure that heat pumps are installed safely and efficiently, and that they are properly connected to the electrical supply. In addition, heat pump installations must also meet the requirements of the Gas Act 1992 and the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006. It is important to note that only licensed and qualified professionals, such as the HVAC technicians at Element Air, are able to install heat pumps to ensure compliance with these regulations.
